Natural Skin Brighteners

Greetings Natural Loves!

Skin brightening creams can be used to brighten dark pigmentation on various parts of the body...face, under-arms, genitalia, and everywhere in-between. Price is not an issue with this product as I have seen online prices range from $0.45 to $100.00+ dollars.

If you are ingredient conscious like myself, most commercial skin brightening creams can be unappealing, laden with an abundance of un-pronounceable chemicals and ingredients. Never fear, your natural alternative consult is here with a few affordable natural skin brightening alternatives.

Apple Cider Vinegar: I use this bad boy almost every place imaginable under-arms, genitalia, and on my face (great for lightening acne scarring) I apply daily after bathing. Allow to dry. and proceed with your daily grooming regimen. Use alone or dilute with spring water, or rose water according to sensitivity. This product works wonders

Sea Salt: Great for ex-foliation. Add to your daily cleansers weekly or bi-weekly to remove dead skin that may promote discoloration

Lemon Juice: Another agent that aids in skin lightening. Any acidic fruit can help in this regard (lime, oranges, pineapple, tomato). Again, be sure to dilute according to skin sensitivity. I have seen recipes include cucumber juice, honey, oatmeal, even yogurt as co-ingredients

Goggle "natural skin brightening/bleaching recipes". You will find countless recipes to guide you along your mixtress way :-D

Natural Eczema Remedy!!!

Greetings Naturalistas!

I know it has been a while since my last post. But I’m BACK! And here to tell you about a natural skin care solution I use to combat eczema. The ingredients are simple. In fact they only include three items/ingredients: olive oil, neem oil, and shea butter.

Neem tree leaves have been used for years in India as a medicinal herb to combat many conditions including acne, psoriasis, and eczema just to name a few. The oil of this plant packs a powerful punch, so a little goes a long way.

Mix 4oz of olive oil to 8 drops of neem oil. It’s that simple! While the body is still damp, after showering, apply the olive/neem oil mixture to the affected area, or to the entire body if needed/desired. Next, apply shea butter to seal in moisture.

Please be sure to purchase grade A shea butter (light/near white in color, unrefined) vs. A low quality shea butter (dark yellow and waxy consistency). We offer grade A unrefined shea butter at www.hairizonbeauty.com . Olive oil can be purchased at your neighborhood grocery store. I purchase my neem oil from www.vitacost.com or www.organixsouth.com

Try it, and please, come back and let us know how it works for you!

Natural Acne Skincare Regimen

I must confess you guys, I am not the "greenest" person alive, but I do try really strive to be natural in all that I put into or on my body. I have taken medications, but I am constantly on the look out for natural remedies that work, in hopes that upon finding natural solutions, I will no longer have to use the medication. I believe there is a natural remedy for all ailments. They surely exist and are out there even if we do not know about them yet...

Thanks to this skincare regimen I am about to share with you and the makeup I use (I will save that for another entry), not only is my acne controlled, but scar fading accelerates. I found this regimen off of a website called "Beauty Secrets Revealed Organic Skincare Blog" www.leonsbeautytipsandsecrets.com/ance-free-skin-in-7-days-challenge/

In summary here is the regimen:

In Morning: Cleanse your face with raw honey, or manuka honey (I use raw honey with a few drops of tea tree oil). Follow with an ACV(I use Bragg's)/distilled water/honey mixture (1 to 8 part ACV/water ratio and 1/2 tsp of raw honey) as toner. Finish with moisturizer of choice (I use MyChelle oil-free grapefruit cream)

At Night: There are many options for you to follow here. Feel free to read the website for more info. But here is what I do: I follow the OCM (Oil Cleansing Method) using Grapeseed Oil and tea tree oil (1 tbsp to 2 drop ratio)

I get all of the above items from www.vitacost.com but you will surely find all of the ingredients above at your local health food store.

So what do you have to loose? It has done wonders for me. Try it and let us know how it works for you. :-)

Before You Go And Spend A Fortune on Eyelash Serums.....

Hi Everyone!!!!!

I know it's been a long time since my last post. I had to take a small hiatus, but I am back, and have plenty to say :-) Long, Luscious, Eyelashes....everybody wants them. I fell victim to the hysteria where I went and got an expensive eyelash serum. It worked...ummm...well...not worth the price I paid. Too bad I stumbled across this youtube video after the fact. I have tried it for myself and let me tell you, IT WORKS!

I apply refined castor oil (Heritage brand in particular, but I do not believe brand matters here) every night before I go to bed. In just two weeks my lashes have become noticeably thicker and longer. I also understand that it can be applied to eyebrows to gain fullness as well. Go ahead, try it for yourself, and let us know how it works for you! My motto is "Do What You Know Until You Find The Natural Alternative...Natural is ALWAYS the Best Way To Go!"  ;-)

To Grease or Not to Grease: That is the Question!

In early childhood days I, as many of you grew up with your mother greasing your scalp, and as these acts were done with our best interest in mind, new haircare practices suggest that this act is not the healthiest option for our hair.

In my research several sources indicate that oiling the scalp on a regular basis can cause buildup, thereby clogging pores and inhibiting hair growth. Our scalp produces oils on its own that is sufficient for nourishment. If one may be suffering from hair loss however, it is recommended that one conducts hot oil massages before shampooing & conditioning once a week. Good oils to use would be peppermint, coconut, lavender, rosemary, thyme and Jamaican black castor (JBCO) oils.

Up until now, I have oiled my scalp with a personal mixture of oils 2 - 3 times a week. I have locs and my hair is VERY soft. Oiling on such a consistent basis caused my locs to unravel. I asked my stylist on my last visit if she ever oils her scalp in between washes. She said does not…she just refreshes her locs with a lite oil spritz as needed.

There are some that believes good hair starts from the inside out (diet, exercise, vitamins and minerals). An article I read (sourced below) gives a detailed listing and dosage of key vitamins and minerals and foods to include in our diet that are conducive to hair growth. Some vitamins and minerals include B6, Biotin, Inositol, Folic Acid, B5 (Pantothetic Acid, B3 (Niacin), Magnesium, Sulfur, and Zinc to name a few. Foods such as brown rice, leafy green veggies, ginger, seaweed (sushi or in supplement form) and carrots are great foods to include in one’s diet to promote growth…..

I have not oiled my scalp since my last grooming. I am going to insure the veggies and vitamins listed are included in my diet and daily health regimen. I will continue my fitness regimen of exercise 4+ days a week, and I will continue this routine for 3-4 months to see if there is a difference in growth and hair maintenance. I hope this information was helpful. Until next time…..Stay tuned!

Natural Hair Care Hawaiian Style!

Hi Natural Lovies!

OK. If you have not signed up to receive Hairizon's Newsletter, you are definitely missing a treat. It was recently revamped to include great tips on hair care. A subscription will also ensure that you learn of our special deals and shhh!...secret sales. Here is our latest newsletter written by Hairizon 3CO Joi, featuring Hawaiian haircare tips!

My friend Aaren, owner of Pozzibilitiez, showed me pictures from a recent trip to Hawaii.
In all the pictures there were native Hawaiians with long, beautiful hair. I began to think, how do they grow such long hair?  Then my research began and here is what I found out:

Hair Tips From Hawaii:

1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has been used in hair treatments for thousands of years and in 1999 a study found that even on chemically damaged hair, coconut oil provided a lubricating film and penetrated water into the hair, preventing the lifting of the surface cuticle and its breaking by the force of a comb. Coconut oil treatments add shine and strength to all hair types. Coconut oil can also be used as a leave-in conditioner on curly, thick hair. The

curlier the hair, the  more coconut oil can be used without a greasy look. Curly hair absorbs the oil. Start with

a small amount in clean, dry hair and add more until the hair is glossy. Rub some into the scalp and into the

ends of the hair. Also, Coconut oil has anti-fungal properties that heal the scalp and hair.

2.  Kukui Nut Oil Treatments
The
kukui nut tree is the official state tree of Hawaii. Hawaiian natives have used sweet oil to heal acne and to soothe a variety of burns. In traditional Hawaiian culture, babies were anointed with the oil to protect them from elements of nature, such as salt and sun.
Hawaiian Kukui Hair Treatment for shiny and lustrous hair:
Lightly warm 1/4 cup kukui nut oil
Massage onto your scalp and hair. Let set on scalp and hair for 5-15 minutes. Shampoo out.
3.  Curling irons & blow dryers are the enemy
Let your hair naturally dry.  If it is absolutely necessary, use them on the lowest setting & be careful not to burn your hair
4.  Get regular trims
Split ends prevent your hair form growing to its fullest potential.  Also, use plastic (ouch-less) hair accessories
5.  Eat your veggies
Fresh fruit and veggies have a tremendous effect on the hair
6. Regular hair washing
Because of frequent beach visits, Hawaiians wash their hair a lot. Avoid detergent based shampoos as much as possible.  Conditioner only is always a great option.
7. Time
It takes time and patience to grow long hair, but it is worth it.

Kinky Kop!!!!!!

Yes Ladies and Gentlemen! This is the segment of the Kinky Kronicles that gives a special shot out/testimony to/about the products we absolutely can not live without! Today's feature is "Sweet Jojoba Oil" by Pretty Curls!

Sweet Jojoba

Generally, jojoba oil is known for it's deeply moisturizing capabilities, which prevents split-ends and keeps hair looking healthy and vibrant. Some sources even say that jojoba oil stimulates hair growth and cleanses the scalp!

It smells absolutely divine! It is comprised of jojoba oil, and fragrances of jasmine, patchouli, and rose. It is a great two-in-one product as it can be used on one's hair and/or body (I use it on both! lol) After showering, I apply this sweet smelling oil to by body. It effortlessly leaves my skin soft and moisturized. No greazy weezy here, as it quickly penetrates the skin! And my locs are a shining and a glistening as long as I maintain them with a few sprays of this baby every few days or so!

Come on! Don't take my word for it! Give it a try! Kop your Sweet Jojoba Oil at Hairizon today!
